Hey there Blog Followers:
What an interesting couple of weeks. As most of you know, we has 2 inches of ice dropped on us overnight, but that's a topic for our next post. In the meanwhile, we promised you an update about Kansas City, and here it is!
Nate and I always do our best to have adventures wherever we go. So, we left Friday night and bunked down in Saint Louis! Neither of us had ever stopped there before, so we went looking for something to do; we found the Lumière Place Casino. Nate had never been to a casino before, so we had to go! It really is an interesting feeling, lights and sounds everywhere. We didn't bring any money with us, so we just wandered through looking at all the different types of machines and tables. A casino is a world unto itself. This is Kansas City. For all you trivia people, Kansas City is interesting because only half of it is in Kansas, the other half is in Missouri. In fact, on the way out of town we drove west first, did a Chinese Fire Drill in the state of Kansas, then drove back through Missouri to get home (because if we're that close to Kansas, we should at least step foot in the state!). Kansas City is a nice city, we talked a lot about how it felt really comfortable there. Every street has countless restaurants and shops, all so interesting and colorful. We found great Sushi just around the corner from our hotel, which was wonderful because it was really too cold to walk very far.
Speaking of goofy (and fun!), we spent Saturday at the Kansas City Children's Museum; the photo above is an overview of the entire place! We were really impressed at a lot of the exhibits there, the sets that have been built are all very life-like. Right below is Nate in the MC Escher Room - try and figure out which way is up! We crawled through tunnels, watched birds, played physics-themed miniature golf, fixed Kansas City's electrical system, and trained to be astronauts (Nate even landed a space ship on his own!). Not bad for one day's work.
Kyla and Jay's ceremony was beautiful; I can't think or write about it without feeling a little bit teary and so proud. It was held at a local club called Club 1000. Guests arrived and were ushered upstairs to this beautiful, wide, open room decorated with little white lights. The wedding party looked beautiful, and the whole ceremony was picture-perfect. Both Jay and Kyla wrote their own vows, which made us cry, laugh, and taught us new things - we looked up some psych references that they made on the drive home. We were so happy to see so many of our college friends (love you Ashton, Kaitlin!), and to spend extra time with Kim and Ian, who were our hotel-mates and also fellow keep-Richmond-interesting-ites.
Jay and Kyla were, in many ways, our 'partner couple;' they were the other serious couple that we spent time with. We are both so proud and happy of the new Pitts-Zevins, and wish them all the happiness in the world!
That's all for now. Next up: An icy story
