Hey All!
I know we're a little bit behind, so we wanted to do a birthday update and then we'll get down and dirty about all the fun we had at the Pitts-Zevin wedding in Kansas City!
So, on my birthday, I got to sleep in as late as I wanted. We were lucky that this year it was on a Sunday, a day that we normally reserve for doing nothing, so sleeping in was easy to accommodate. Nate surprised me with breakfast in bed, cottage cheese pancakes, raspberry lemonade and a red rose! It was so nice to have a day where I had nothing to do but relax!
I knew where we were going for dinner, so I took a long bath that afternoon and straightened my hair! Mom took me shopping for my birthday present while we were still in Michigan - so I donned my Birthday gray sweater dress and black stockings, put my face on, and we were off to dinner!
For those of you who have never been to the Melting Pot, we would definitely recommend it! Below was our main course (after cheese fondue and my favorite salad in existence). The bowl that you see is the hot oil, with all of our veggies in it because they take longest to cook. The white places have your entrée, and you spear them on the forks and cook them in the oil. The taste is amazing! Also, for those of you looking really closely, that is a Creme Brulee martini, which was amazing too! After we were served, Nate pulled out his Droid (phone) and read me my birthday present:
You asked not for gift of coin, and to that your husband relents,He's just irresistible. I never stood a chance.
So instead I’ll give you the gift of words, and add my two cents.
Another year older, and here’s to many more!
(I hear twenty-five is considered the new twenty-four)
You’re the best thing in my life, future, present or past,
From the start, I fell in love with you deeply, and just as fast.
I cherish you humor, intelligence, beauty and grace,
And that smile now spreading across your pretty face.
Happy Birthday my love, ma chérie,
How lucky I am that you chose me,
To spend the rest of the days of our life,
Together as husband and as wife.
We finished the evening with a Creme Brulee dessert fondue, because you can never have enough of a good thing (especially things that involve caramelized sugar and fire), and headed home. What a wonderful birthday!
Thanks so much to everyone who called, wrote, Facebooked and sent presents. We count ourselves so lucky to have so many wonderful friends and family. Speaking of family, happy birthday to Mom (Molly)!
Stay tuned for some wacky hijinks from Kansas City - turns out it's not even in Kansas!
Love you all!
-Justine and Nate
